El Salvador
After a year of doing retreats, I have quite a few ladies who want to come back (and some who already have) but want to explore a new part of the world and sample a different set of waves. In order to fulfill their desires, I’m offering two special retreats in El Salvador.

I first visited El Salvador in September 2011 on a volunteering trip with an organization called Surf For Life. The purpose of our trip was to help build a high school in the town of El Cuco for a community that previously didn’t have one. While there I sampled the waves, explored the area, and met an awesomely inspiring woman named Lisette Perez who is running a surf camp called the Azul Surf Club. She surfs a little bit and is tired of having her camp filled with dudes so we decided to team up to fill it with ladies for a change!

The Azul Surf Club is a beautiful place located right on the beach in front of a cute beach break similar to the Bay near Coco Loco with nice long rides at medium tide that is guaranteed to be empty except for us! Just a few minutes’ ride down the road is the right point break called Las Flores. It’s the most user-friendly and rippable wave i’ve ever surfed. It’s great for practicing your turns and trying to sneak in a little tube ride. If you want to really work on getting green waves, you can sit a little wider away from the peak and catch the waves of your life!

While I was there, I had gotten a super long ride from the peak and was paddling out again when I saw a guy who was clearly a beginner on a nice clean waist high wave. I didn’t want to get in his way, so I stood on the inside and watched him ride past me. When the wave finally ended, he jumped off and started hooting in excitement. He told me he had just learned to surf a few months ago in Newport Beach, CA but I had just witnessed his first green wave. At that point I realized that Las Flores would be a great place for a retreat!

There is also a hollower, more powerful wave called Punta Mango located a ten minute boat ride away that we can check out if the conditions are right and there are a few amigas that want to push themselves in bigger waves.

The Azul Surf Club
is a very comfortable place with Air Conditioning, bathrooms in your room with hot showers, and wireless internet. There’s also a nice elevated yoga area right over the ocean and a pool with a swim-up bar.

I’m offering two retreats April 1-8 and 8-15.
A price of $1,750 includes:
- 7 nights in a shared room
- transfers to/from the airport
- all meals, water, and juice
- surfing twice a day
- daily yoga classes
- one afternoon trip to go zip-lining
- one boat trip (extra trips can be arranged if conditions are right)
* beers and sodas are extra

I am going to do my best to get a collection of surfboards available for use but if you have your own you are encouraged to bring it. Keep that in mind when looking at flights. Taca and American are the most reliable with surfboards.

In order to participate in this retreat you must either have already come to a retreat at Coco Loco OR be able to convince me that you know how to paddle yourself out and catch a wave.
